Things that happen only at the Maidaan...
No match report but it seems like so much took place today. I am gonna ring up whatever I remember from the day.
1. Captains sending out a stern missive that games need to start on time lest we all get a tan. It sounded all good natured and filled with intent till one understood the real reason. HK needed to leave by 10 AM and he only had a small window to make an impact.
2. Speaking of the man himself. Birthday boy did not have the best start to his day being run out under the most undesirable circumstances. But the main act only followed the run out. Apoorva let out such a stomach gurgling shriek that everyone wondered if someone just gave birth. It has to be the emotive display for the ages. And the drama did not just end there. Poor HK's daughter was watching all this drama unfold from the tennis court and only wondered. " Why cant my dad get another chance to bat? It's his birthday after all :-) "
3. Umpiring was sublime.....
4. Harsha shut all his demons away and played a knock full of grit and determination. And as he showed us why class is permanent he travels away for 2 weeks.
5. Ayush showed skills beyond his age. Pacy, mercurial, unflappable and a 5 for in his name. And just to show him team he was not done, he smacked a rapid 39 at Abhishek Sharma SR to show his team that they lacked any gumption.
6. The Wolves have the best runners between the wickets. But they have now lost a bunch of folks to run outs either without scoring or worse still without facing a ball. Kishore is happy to run for anyone.
7. Satya's wicket was comical. Big fight interrupts play. He tries to prove a point and charge down the wicket. Slices one outside the park and blames his head position for the poor shot. The rest was all insignificant.
8. Hari and his temperament. Did not cause any fight, did not partake in any.
9. Pranav man...that kid is something else. That stop, dive, pick up and throw all while being on the ground was to be witnessed. Most dramatic single you would have ever seen.
10. Kiran and Dhruv trying to be peace makers. The effect though was quite the opposite.
11. Sameer Mohanty is still the most valuable players for the Wolves. Go figure.
