The Conversation with Dhruv
1. What was your first impression of maidaan cricket ?
I thought maidaan cricket would be easy and that it would be casual, occasional weekend fun with snobbish uncles. First impressions are deceiving…
2. you are one of the most hardworking players in the group. What motivates you to go the extra mile ?
I don’t know about hard working…because cricket is the only “workout/sport” I give time to. My motivation is to contribute a lot more but for that I need to get much better
3. describe the following in not more than two words –
Susmit – Agent chaos
Kishore – Smiling butcher
Vikram – Laughing Buddha
Kings - Good guy
Hari – Smooth operator
4. What would an ideal day at cricket be for you ?
Team should win
Getting to bowl 3-4 overs, taking critical wickets and not giving more than 4 RPO
Get a quick 20-25 runs for the team in the middle/towards the end
5. We rarely see you swearing at batsmen, giving them send-offs, talking aloud, do you make a conscious effort to not get personal?
Everyone is playing hard but fair without any ill intentions
I am competitive but I don’t enjoy confrontation
Plus most of the folks are older to me….
6. what makes you feel better at cricket . Smoking one out of the park , taking a wicket or something else we don’t know about
Winning the game
Getting a key batsman out by outthinking them (which is happening rarely)
