30 overs and 1 run separating the teams
*Cricket at Maidaan!!!!*
Whoa, Cricket! A game of high intensity, strategy, and those nerve-wracking moments that drive us to display our best at the Maidaan. One such best match between the Infernos & the Vikings was witnessed here today.
In a thrilling contest that went down to the wire, Infernos managed to secure a thrilling victory by 1 run. *Vikram bhai’s* stellar performance, both with the bat & ball, earned him the well-deserved *‘Player of the Match’* award.
Having won the toss, the Infernos were tasked with batting first, and they did so with immense flair, posting a staggering total of *104* in the alloted15 overs.
The primary architect of this monumental score was none other than *Viks & HK,* who dismantled the Vikings bowling attack with their explosive strokeplay. The duo's magnificent partnership propelled the score to *85 runs from 8 overs.*
Vik’s quartet of boundaries in an over of Mark paved the way for the Infernos towards a huge total but the dismissal of *HK* & the unfortunate *run out* of Vik brought the Vikings back into the game.
Samir & Manoj tried to increase the run rate but Harsha's astonishing fielding & run out effort brought the end to Samirs innings, which started with a first ball boundary.
A late cameo from *Manoj* helped Infernos to take the total to 104.
*Dhruv* was the pick of the Vikings bowling attack with his immaculate line & length, picking up the all important wicket of HK & curtailing the total to 104, what seemed to reach 120.
Chasing a target of *105 runs* was no walk in the park for the Vikings, especially when they lost both *Arjun and the in-form Hari* very early in the chase, making the contest appear poised for a nail-biting finish. Nevertheless, the partnership between King's and Harsha brought stability to the Vikings’ innings.
The aggressive batting prowess of Harsha and Kings turned the game on its head, both combining well to accelerate the score to the required run-rate & taking the score past 50. The stage appeared to be set for a competitive finish.
The pivotal moment was marked by *King's* who showcased a spectacular innings with his classy cuts, silky drives & lovely lofted shots.
With the partnership gaining momentum & Vikings back on track, Infernos skipper Shitz tossed the ball to *Pranav*. This remarkable over turned the tide decisively in Viking’s favor, as it yielded an astounding 17 runs. *Harsha* unleashed an onslaught of two powerful sixes & a magnificent boundary, taking the game by storm....but Pranav had the last laugh as Harsha hit one straight into Kirans safe hands.
The equation was *26 runs required in 3 overs.*
In came Kishore at very crucial stage & the need of the hour was to support Kings & give him much of the strike. But the cool as cucumber *Kishore* had other ideas.
In a breathtaking display of power-hitting at a pressure situation of the chase, *Kishore* heaved the ball first of Sushmits over for a boundary & then into the swimming pool fence for a colossal *six,* taking the score to 95, before getting out.
*10 runs required of 12 balls.* With *Kings & Dhruv* at crease, the target seemed achievable & the Vikings were sensing victory after a long time.
That penultimate over by *HK* was the clincher, in my opinion. He unleashed a few super paced unplayable deliveries and mixing it up yorker lenth, HK allowed just two in that over.
*Final over:*
*8 runs to win.*
*Bowler: Skipper Shitz*.
*Ball 1* : Kings hits outside the boundary....*OUT*
*Ball 2* : Mark - single
*Ball 3* : Dhruv - dot
*Ball 4* : Dhruv - boundary.
The match becomes more intense as the situation boils down to *3 runs required from the last 2 deliveries.*
*Ball 5* : Dhruv - single.
*Last ball: One for super over & 2 runs to win*.
*Shitz* bowls a sooper delivery & *Mark* fails to put the bat to the ball.
*The Infernos win a humdinger by 1 run.*
*SCORES: 4-1 Infernos.*
*MoM : Vikram bhai*
