Ahaan writes about the Sunday game

After yesterday's season opener, the team agreed to play a friendly practice game on a beautiful Sunday morning. The teams were formed keeping the core of the Infernos and the Vikings on two sides except for a few changes.

The teams were led by Satya and Aashish and as has been in practice matches before the focus was on everyone getting either a bat or bowl.

Kudos to the two captains for letting the young turks exhibit their potential.

Today was another intense game. The Infernos won the toss and chose to bat first. Kiran and Ahaan opened and made a good opening partnership of 30 not out as they both retired. Though a few wickets fell, the Infernos continued to add to the score and eventually the scoreboard read 77 runs in 12 overs.

Eshaan and Ayush opened the attack for the Vikings and bowled beautifully.

Vikings required 78 runs in 12 overs.

The Vikings started strong and it looked like they had the game in the bag. But wickets were falling continuously. They didn’t let this stop them, though. With 2 overs left to go, 14 runs was required. Satya bowled a great penultimate over, conceding just 5. The equation to win now was 9 in 6 balls. Should be pretty easy, right? With Arjun to bowl the last over, Aashish on strike and Eshan as the runner, anything could be possible. But then Arjun bowls a beautiful maiden over to conclude the game.

Overall it has been a great opening weekend for the PCL. Both teams appear very well balanced and if I were a betting person, I would say that Vikings have a stronger all round team considering we missed quite a few of our stars this weekend.

6 more days to our next game :-) :-)
